Red…..hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm………….Another difficult assignment for me. I put it off until the last drop of sunlight last night because I just do NOT have red anywhere in this house. It’s not that I don’t LIKE red – I like it on other people more than myself…I finally settled on photographing Allie on her little Radio Flyer scooter that she loves – HOWEVER – she was more worried about that silly snow leopard than sitting up and holding the handle bars. We spent the entire time picking “EGBO” (that’s how she’s pronouncing Jaguar these days) off the ground, trying to help her situate his legs over the handle bars…quite funny – but not very helpful. SO after a long fought battle to get the perfect image, I settled for one of her riding away because in every.single.image she’s looking down to see what Egbo’s doing….sigh. There are days my vision does NOT come to life – and this was one of those…..

Project 52 – Week 7 – Feet {Tampa Childrens Photographer}

February 18th, 2011

Feet are NOT my favorite subject – but I’m kind of digging this image of Emma practicing with her soccer ball. This picture actually could have been posted in the “obsession” day as that is what soccer has become for her! Don’t forget to head over to Jennifer’s blog and see her interpretation of “feet”! “Project 52″ – Week 2 – Bokeh

January 14th, 2011

This is a fun one for me – I absolutely love beautiful bokeh. This is the definition of “bokeh” for those of you who aren’t familiar with the term. •In photography, bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or “the way the lens renders out-of-focus [...]

•In photography, bokeh is the blur, or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light. …

It’s actually a very fun concept. Getting that foreground crisp and sharp and interesting, while also looking at the light behind you to look for the sparkle that will make the dreamy blobby looking things that make my soul sing!! Love it.

For today’s assignment, since my Christmas tree is still up (don’t get me started) I decided to use the Christmas tree lights to create some fun, beautiful bokeh. I put my very favorite ornament in the foreground – this little red/white baby carriage. I received this as a gift from my aunt when I was a very small child. I’ve LOVED this ornament all my life – the way it hangs on a tilt and spins…love it. I have so many memories of just laying on the living room floor as a child, watching the lights twinkle on the tree – and keeping an eye on my very favorite ornament. Now it’s on my tree every year and it’s always placed in a prominent spot – preferably facing towards my very favorite spot on the couch (lol) – so I can enjoy it!

I am so excited to be participating in a photography project this year called Project 52. A group of 15 super talented photographers will be participating in the project. Each week we will have a theme that we will photograph as we see it. On Friday we will all post our photos! Below the weekly photo we will each provide a link to another photographer participating in the project and they will do the same creating a circle! This “link” will make it easy to follow each photographer participating in the project and give you a healthy dose of amazing eye candy! This project is going to be challenging….but so much FUN! I hope that you will join us this year as we take on PROJECT 52!
This first week we will be posting our theme on Sunday……Self Portrait! No photographer likes to be in FRONT of the camera….that’s why we are all BEHIND it! But, it is so important to have pictures of ourselves….if not for us, for our children and family. This week we are posting on Sunday…..but stay tuned for next week’s challenge on Friday!!! Enjoy! And thanks for coming along for the ride!!! xo
